This loose-leaf lettuce grows in a tall head of dark green leaves with firm center ribs. Leaves bunch together as they grow forming a loose head. Crisp and juicy and sweeter than other leaf lettuce types, the outer leaves are great to use as wraps and delicious grilled. This variety is known for the hearts at the center of the heads that are used for Caesar and other salads. Outer leaves can be picked as soon as they are big enough to use and the inner leaves can continue growing. Keep soil consistently moist for tender leaves and to prevent bolting.
