One of my favorite summertime pleasures is eating a cold slice of watermelon on a hot day. For dessert or just a snack this smaller watermelon with its crisp, sweet red flesh hits the spot every time.
The 6-10 pound fruit on compact vines saves room in the refrigerator as well as in the garden. The only thing oversized is the flavor- it is rich and incredibly sweet. An early producer it is truly a short season delight.
